The Montejaque Ronda Townhouse Development

Montejaque is a typical Spanish village about 9 kilometres outside the spectacular historical town of Ronda. It nests in the mountainside of the spectacular Grazalema Natural Park.  Our new development is of 3 bedroom townhouses built in a style sympathetic to the traditional village.  Underground parking, gardens and pools are all available.  Please review the page below for information on the development and surrounding area.

The Montejaque development is split into 2 plots .  One plot has communal gardens and swimming pool (parcel E) and the other plot has private gardens with space for private swimming pools (parcel F). The price for the pools will be from 12,000€ and will measure approx 7x4m. There are 2 different types of townhouses A and B, although they are very similar. There are only type B on the plot with private gardens. There is also underground parking available but this is not included in the price as there is on-street parking. All licences are in place and we expect building work to commence shortly. We expect completion around summer of 2009.

The Sierra de Grazalema is a limestone area filled with dramatic cliffs, gullies and valley. The National Park is extrmemly rich in life  - 1,300 plant species have been recorded here and some only grow in this national park.  Andalucia's largest cave system is to be found in the park, the Hundidero-Gato.  The biggest cavern measures 4km long with a 60m tall entrance.

Ronda

The old town of Ronda straddles the 130m high El Tajo gorge through which the river Guadslévin tumbles. The gorge is traversed by the 18th century Puente Nuevo bridge and image for which Ronda is now famous for.  The gorge opens out into a broad plateaux just where the bridge spans the river and the town is built right along the cliff face which drops to this fertile plane.  There are pleasant paths along the towns edge which cross through tree lined squares and cobbled streets from which the plateaux beneath the town and the encircling mountains (Serranía de Ronda) can be viewed.  Within the town it's self stroll along the immaculate cobbled streets and take in the churches, villas, shops and bars .

The Moors did not leave Ronda until 1485 and their influence is found throughout the architecture and cuisine of the area.   The town is full of little museums and small palaces which occupy some of the most architecturally important dwellings, you can enter most free or for a small fee.  There are loads of bars and restaurants from stand up tapas bars to very classy affairs around the bull ring.  The bull ring itself is historically and architecturally famous.  It is the home of bull fighting and the bull ring houses a small museum which will give you an insight into the bullfights old and recent history.

Ronda is an excellent base from which to investigate Andalucia.  It is only 1.5 hours from Malaga airport and 30 minutes from Marbella.  Some of the best walking in Andalucia is to be had in the surrounding mountains and it is a great area for bird watchers and botanists.
